I was at Axalp a few years ago. When we started to walk up the mountain in the early morning (it was still dark) the weather was good. When we arrived at the top the weather changed to a heavy snowstorm . They told us that all flights where cancelled for that day. After that we walked back. This was very dangerous because the sight was maximim 1 meter. Because of the very hard wind blowing snow in our eyes finding the way back down the mountain was a real survival. Because we coudn't see what was below the snow (about 30 - 50 centimeters !) we often fell over rocks. As the show takes place in October it might be winter already so bring appropriate clothing with you. The weather can change very quickly up there.
There is a "hut" of the Swiss Air Force where you can sit during bad weather. I don't know how much people can stay in this little building and when it is opened.when being up there, and it starts to snow/rain etc. is there any place to hide inside ore so?
We stayed at a hotel in the village of Axalp. Don't know the price but we had a sort of "mountian-climbers-room". This was one room with about 8 or 10 beds. This was not very expensive but you don't have any privacy and you sleep in the same room with complete strangers.and how much does a room cost in axalp per night any indications?
