Hi all,
Leuchars is at present closed for runway resurfacing as is widely known. This is taking some time as issues have been encountered I am led to believe. However it now looks like the piano keys are being moved further along the runway as a new fence is being erected right at the road-side at Point 2 on the Scramble airfield guide.
Previously it was just a simple 5-bar fence but now looks to be a 2+ metre high chain link fence. This extra height on finals has meant the threshold for RW09 has moved. It also means that one of the best vantage points for landing shots anywhere is going to be restricted now. On western side of road, it may still be high enough but an update is now needed to the Guide. This has also been done at the northeastern end.
