Spotting at NATO base Geilenkirchen (ETNG)??

Post by Thermal »

Visiting the town Geilenkirchen in a few weeks and while I´m there I was thinking of having a go with my Canon at some of the planes at the nearby base.

But I´m visiting during a weekend and I assume there are no flying activities during the weekend?

Can someone shed a light on this??

Thanks in advance

Good afternoon,

during the weekend there is no military flying activity, only the local flying clubs will fly their gliders and one or two single-engine props.

There's a phone number at the bottom, just in case someone witnessed something that might help the police.

Hello! I'd like to ask you a question and it seems to me this is the best place to do it (I'm new to this forum, so please be patient ;)).
Today on EPPW (Powidz AB, Poland) an AWACS (E-3) had some exercise (doing touch and go and so on...). As far as I know these planes (NATO AWACSes) are based at ETNG (Geilenkirchen AB). My intension is to learn which one of E-3 (there are 17 of them, right?) was operating in Poland today. Could you help me in any way, give me operating hours, tactical number, whatever? TIA!
(I don't know the exact time of these exercise, but it was leaving EPPW about 13:38UTC.)

Hi Hermolaus,

Found the following flight: NATO07 E-3A (LX-N90449) NAEW&CF

The Awacs made some approaches at Laage and Powidz (between 12:45LT-14:45LT)

Most of the time the flightplan filed registration is 100%

Expect some help (mainly in regs) here - hope this is a good place (if not suggest me a better place, please).

The E-3A was operating over Poland on Monday (10 March), and made some approaches in quite a few airports, namely EPWA, EPKK, EPPO, EPKS (these ones confirmed). I am 95% sure it was LX-N90449 – the same as the las time. Could anyone confirm?

Today a monthly military exercise called "Fruit Fly" will take place in Poland (14 exercise areas were prepared). Does anyone knows which one of E-3A is going to operate?

And a small question to radio monitoring spotters: is there a fixed frequency in use on such occasions to communicate between pilots and AWACS crew? What should I expect to hear and where?

Will be gratefull for any kind of help! :)
