Scramble 346 will be out in a couple of days

Post by jurgen »

The subject is not quite correct as the magazine has arrived in most Dutch homes today or yesterday.

Page 118 should have been the index for 2007, but because of some little errors we could not resolve in time you will only see a picture of twelve spectacular covers. Below that are some white and grey patches which you can use to make notes or a nice drawing....

Due to two missing regular section, Dustpan & Brush as well as the Showreports we are a bit thinner than usual, only 120 pages.

Last months announcement of our expected 100.000th 'updater' was a great success and many tried to win the prize by sending us their valuable updates. The prize has already been send to the winner, and he was very pleased! Please continue sending us your updates so we can share all this info in our magazine and downloadable PDF.

Since we have published our Scramble Military Serial (SMS) registrations books we always had a great offer during the annual Royal Netherlands Air Force open days. One remark on this issue. In the Norwegian Military news section it is mentioned that the NorAF has sold 15 F-5s to the USA for 560 million dollars.

Where do you get that amount from?

According to Norwegian newspapers, the transaction is worth 100 million Norwegian Kronars, which is about 12 million euros or 17 million US Dollars.

The amount you state would mean they were sold for amost 38 million dollars each, a little bit too much I would think.

Or have I read the story the wrong way?

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your mail.
Perhaps there was a little dip in the Norwegian - US curreny exchange rate at the time the editor wrote the article :D :D

I really do not know, but $560 seems a bit steep for fifteen very old aircraft. I will ask the guy who wrote this and he will come back to you with an answer.

Oh yes, the credit crunch! Heard about that one....

Lucky Norwegians...

Anyway I hope we'll get the correct answer in the next issue...

Thanks for your reply Jurgen!! Otherwise another nice issue, albeit a bit thinner than normal. Did like the South American tripreport very much.

CU!
Richard.
