'Nose only' as in 'radome only', or was this an actual front section of the fuselage?

Thanks in advance,

Stephan

Didn't know the tip of the nose section is called radome, but yes it was only the radome.

No the MLM will stay where they are only they are going to move to the base so the shelters and stuff are going to be preserved. They are trying to make a big defence museum with part of other collections i have heard...

SO next year there will also be an open Depot day

Ah ok, many thanks, not worth for me going again then. Most enjoyable though, those storage visiting days!

In the Starfighter shelter also present was:
D-5803 F-104.
That makes seven complete Stafs in the second shelter.

And where did you see the Atlantique? I missed it :? .

Negative, D-5803 was fake. It wasn't even a TF-104 ;-)

That starfighter was actually D-8338, of which the tail was in the first shelter.

The atla was seen from the bus across the field somewhere between some trees.

Actually there were 7 F-104's in that hangar, including two-seater D-5803.

It is D-8338 that bears the incorrect serial "D-5805" (as stated in your first post above!)

According to Scramble Mil Database the G-10 is a fake registration. It should be the PH-UDT. But I can't find that one in the Scramble PH-register. Anybody got the clue?
Thanks.

The nose section as you mentioned, also knowns as the radome, is an interchangeable part of the Starfighter. For example, the F-104G which is used as a instructional airframe at the ROC Hoofddorp(formely known as NLC) has another number in the radome then the frame has got. So this has nothing to do with the aircraft itself. Marking parts is a normal occurance in aviation (during maintenance), but this doens't always mean that is belongs to that aircraft.

Let's hope in the new museum there's going to be more space to display everything :)
Militaire Luchtvaart Museum verhuist naar vliegbasis Soesterberg

11-07-2006
