Great pictures from Swiss. It seems you saw a lot of traffic. From where did you took this picture?

I was in Swiss the week before you and we also saw a lot of traffic.

NikonD70 with 80-200 F2.8/ 300 F4 with or without 1.7converter.

At ground level 3degrees at airplanelevel probebly around 0degrees...

We had at Meiringen 3 flights of 4Hornets a day, with as bonus 1 xtra flight of the Tiger with 1 Hornet. These are normally based at Payerne.
At Payerne there was an exersize going on, with several flights a day. Alpnach was good for 5 or 6 flying Alouettes and 3 flying Cougars in the morning.
The photo of the Tiger was taken from the top of a shelter at the end of RWY10.

no go shelter

Post by Birdman »

Please ceep in mind that this shelter is officially a no go area. I've been up there in 2005 and have been sent away by a potrolling guard. This was during Axalp and during this week the field is flooded with aircraft spotters so it might have been more relevent then. If one goes, everybody goes.. But this spot is tricky to be standing on as such because it might make conditions more difficult in the future. I heard rumors about a fence for this reason? Anyway, since then I haven't been on top of it and am sorry for hazordising the fantastic conditions there, allthough luckely nothing chainged as of yet.

Great photo's by the way Purple! Nice to see more creative shots besides the standard "numbre readable" ones. Switzerland is great to word with the backdrops and you took advantige of it very well (photo 1 and 15... just great!).

Greetings,
René

you are probebly right, it is very close to the active taxi and runway. We only did a hit and run so we had no problems there. We were send away in the approach of RWY28 because we were to close to the approachline. We also got send away at Payerne from the shelter at the southside of the runway. There is a lot of new constuctionwork going on there. I doubt if this area will be accessible in the future except of the publicroad/ runway crossings...
