Bracciano (2008)

Post by Sjoerd »

Hi all,

Most likely some of you visited the surroundings of Rome last weekend and surely most did the large storage at Bracciano as well! The following map we created might be of some help for all you loggers.

(I hope the Moderators allow me linking to MSF, since I'm not able to post the map otherwise)
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mil-spott ... cciano%20/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However I do hope you can help us (all) out be filling in the gaps or confirming our sightings on the left of the map. They are all numbered, so pls reply your sighting with the corresponding reference number on the map.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Sjoerd

Hi all,

Because many people asked for it, i've added the missing serials to the map you made. Only helicopter missing is one behind the tent, but this one should be known very shortly. There are also 4+ AB206s in the green tent, two of them are 528 and 538.

here we go:

Hi Melchior,

Thanks for your updates on my map! So there were only four 206's on the rightside of the tent meaning nr 12 is missing only?

Hi Melchior,
Is the code of the AB-206 638 right? I have read this one as MM80599, so the code should be 538?

Hi Crizz,
Code E.I.518 was in front of the hangar and had MM80579. Also on this platform was the E.I.510 and the AB-205 MM80446/E.I.256

I was checking my pictures and indeed 638 = 538.

I've changed the scheme.

:worship: Wow, this is good sh*t!! Thanks Melchior...

Have you taken note of which hangars houses which helicopters? Have been here on Tuesday the 27th, and still trying to tie-up/confirm some code of choppers parked inside the hangars.

Also A Bell206 was pulled out during the morning, and parked next to the two other 206's and 205 on the tarmac. On the left side the EI-code and MM-number had been overpainted, on the right another 206 was parked... so it could not be identified by me. Have you seen this helo aswell, and can you remember which one it is?

Hope you can help. TIA!

Wijgert

Hi Melchior,

Many thanks for the log! Two things:
-missing from your log is MM80630/EI-569, that was parked on the main platform.
-not in the map but present in your log are EI-553, 595, 599 and 633. Where were those parked?
Thanks!

I will ask Michael since he wrote everything down, I only took pictures so I don't have the complete picture where what was
Also A Bell206 was pulled out during the morning, a
Sam as above, I have a picture of it but is not readable either.
Do you know witch 2 A109s where parked inside the 2nd hangar from the left, on the left in the hangar and had no rotorblades.
Same as above, but I know MM81247 EI-870 was one of them (if you mean with "on the left in hangar" that the hangar is behind you)

Melchior,

Thanks a lot for the excellent LOG of Bracciano, it helps a lot for many spotters I think.

I have 4 numbers that are not on the scheme. Can you let us know where these heli's were standing:

MM80576/E.I.515
MM80614/E.I.553
MM80863/E.I.595
MM80901/E.I.633

In advance thanks a lot

Hi all,

First of all special thanks to Melchior (&co) for sharing their great log!! :toppie: This certainly help a lot of us making our best efforts on the other side of the fence... :mercy:
I've updated the map with stored stuff and also added a second map with our logging on Monday 26th as all hangars were partially openend. Any question and/or additions are most welcome!! :good:

Storage part; updated with Melchiors listings but not sure what to do with the three unknown ones next to the tent (where they not there on the 28th?)
Image

Hangars
Image
Surely there was a lot more (also looking at your log), but this is all we could see. This is also the exact order we saw them starting from one end of the hangar wall untill there was a hangar door blocking the view on any other helo's. So no choppers blocked out!
Hangar 5 might however be an exception here, as E.I.314 was noted parked in the middle of the hangar but to me it's not clear how many helo's are parked next to it as if there was anything between E.I.314 & AB.206 E.I.529.

Also, following the image of Melchior of hangar 2, I'm pretty much convinced there were no more choppers in the hangar then the 4 mentioned in the map.

Best rgds,
Sjoerd

On the 28th there were 3 next to each other of which the middle one is still unknown. The two in front of those that are now XXX marked were not there.

Also if I look at your drawing there are many changes in the hangars compared to the 28th

Hi Melchior,

Ok thanks! Then they probably shifted them into the tent as my photographs definatley place them there on the 26th. Also maybe one could check for the A.109 next to the E.I.870 (in hangar 4) as it looked as if it wouldn't move for some time. I'm also interested if you might be able to ID the AB212/412 visible on the left in the below picture of hangar 2. This one has its rotorhead out so probably also didn't move for some time.

Hangar 2 (1x AB212 or 412 / E.I.412 AB212 / E.I.455 AB412)
Image

Hangar 3 (E.I.583/ E.I.595 / E.I.642)
Image

Hangar 4 (E.I.532 / E.I.616 / E.I.870 / E.I.8xx)
Image

All shots taken from up-hill shot through some bushes and cropped several times, hence the bad quality! I hope this is of some help though.

Cheers,
Sjoerd

The AB212/412 on the left of the first picture has MM8119. I can't see the last digit at my picture, ans also I know see this one is not in my LOG already.

here you see it is next to 455 (412 was outside when we were there and was later positioned between the two)
Image

Here you see the MM regi except the last digit:
Image

I'll get back to you about the A109.
MM80576/E.I.515
MM80614/E.I.553
MM80863/E.I.595
MM80901/E.I.633
MM80576/E.I.515 = Not in the LOG anymore (type error for 518)
MM80614/E.I.553 = 95% sure this is the middle one behind the tent
MM80863/E.I.595 = Can't recall, maybe the 3rd in front of hangars.
MM80901/E.I.633 = In green tent
