I use Access too. I have created a set of tables, one for airframes which includes ID, which is the CN with a prefix, so I can set it as a unique value (for eg. A32S.2143), then it has the CN itself, LN, Manufacturer, Type and Subtype. It also includes frame type (jet, prop,...) and the registration it was wearing when last seen.
The second table is called Sightings and it includes data about each sightings of a particular airframe - ID to relate it to the previous table, Registration, Operator, Location, Date, Remark and a * if it is first time seen.
Last main table is table Photos, which is unrelated to the other two, however I have an auto-fill on my form, so it automatically fills remaining data after entering registration of the plane on the photos. It also contains location of the photo on the disc, so it can display it.
Beside that, I have a couple of forms and reports, which help me organizing/browsing the data.
Firstly there is the main form, which just has buttons to go to the others.
Then there is the 'logging tool', which I use to input data about the sightings. The upper part contains detail about the frame selected in the bottom part. The default data for the new sightings can be set on the main page for the ease of inputting frames from one trip.
Finally, there are two forms for managing/browsing the photos table.
First is a form for adding them. And the second is for browsing. The browsing form isnt great, but Im working on making it better.
I also have created some report, for the ease of browsing.
That's it. Firstly I wanted to buy ADU or some other commercial product, but then, I found iout, that I dont need tens of thousands of airframes already in, so I decided to craete my own one and Im happy with that decision to say.
Now I only have to input three years worth of frames/sightings/photos.
