Mil-trip around Madrid 15-10 until 18-10-2008

Post by DJMikey »

Niels, Rob, Mark and I made a great 4 day trip around Madrid. We visited the military airfields of Torrejon de Ardoz, Getafe, Colmenar Viejo and Cuatro Vientos. The last day we visited the museum in Cuatro Vientos. We had a very good time, even with the local policia at Torrejon.
The Guardia Civil wasn't that happy with us visiting Colmenar Viejo, but we managed to 'fool' them and save our pictures. Sadly lightconditions weren't good, all against the sun, as you can see in the picture below.
Spanish military airfields seemed to have a high level of security, every were we came Guardia Civil or military police were patroling the area. So, no pictures of Getafe and Cuatro Vientos. Torrejon was the place to take pictures.

I will start off with some samples. More will follow later this week, probably also by Niels, Rob and Mark. Hope you enjoy these and the ones to come!

And here we are again, this time posing with the local policia who visited us at Torrejon. We were just outside the military zone, on the hill near the landinglights (wich you can see in the previous picture of our group). Both officers told us we were allowed to take pics of airplanes in the sky, as long as we didn't 'shoot' in the direction of the airforcebase. After a very nice chat, we asked them to make a pic of us with the policecar and one of the officers. And guess what ... the picture was made in the direction of the airforcebase ...

Anyway here's the result. Of course we made the posing officer unrecognisable.

Thats funny, just goes to show how far you can get if you know how to sweet-talk people.
Great report by the way, looking forward to more pictures.

1400 shots in one small trip, woooo sick! You have enough to do I think the coming weeks, do you process them all?

weren't you allowed to enter Torrejon? Last year it was allowed to enter the airbase during the national flying parade in October (thanks to the Spanish spotters who helped to talk over the security guards)

The parade took place a week earlier, so we didn't even bother to ask at the gate.
