Leuchars (EGQL/ADX) - 2008

Post by R. Stalenhoef »

As I am sure some logs will follow the next two weeks I opened this topic already for a question I have.

Next week (3 nov) apparently 8 Polish MiG-29s should arrive at Leuchars for two weeks. I assume the endurance of a MiG-29 isn't long enough to make it in one leg. Any ideas where these interesting aircraft will make a fuel stop on their way to Leuchars?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The current local thinking is that it is not 8 but 4 that will be coming across for detachment with 43 sqdn. However the times of arrival are not known and any heads-up at Wittmund or Karup would be much appreciated as they are unable to make the full trip without AAR or tranist airfield..

It is also not known if they are from Malbork 41 ELT or Minsk with 1 ELT. Any further shall advise so no-one will waste any journeys.

4x MiG29s (1ELT) will go via Skrydstrup (EKSP) plus 1 C295 for support.

Hi,

And as may have been reported elsewhere, personally I don't know, but I can confirm the Polish Migs did not turn up and cancelled late morning. We were advised that they remain at Minsk due to bad weather over Denmark and that they will try again tomorrow, Tuesday 4th.

Shall post which ones when they do - if ever - get here.
