Note: The 492nd EFS deploys for OEF to the 455th AEW at Bagram AB, Afghanistan, as part of USAF's upcoming AEF 7/8 (Cycle 7) rotation (January - April 2009). They will replace the 391st EFS from Seymour Johnson AFB. The fact that the 492nd EFS deploys with a larger number of aircraft as usual must be related to partial A-10 groundings. Ten of the twelve A-10Cs from the 75th EFS which deployed together with the 391st EFS are already relocated to Spangdahlem AB, Germany, for wing inspections and repairs. Meanwhile, the 75th EFS got at least four replacements from Moody AFB, Georgia.[...] "The main body left today (Jan. 3)," said Lt. Col. Matthew Finnegan, 48th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron commander. "We have three more chalks with all our equipment and about 20 F-15 Strike Eagles deploying to the same location."
He said this deployment has the most aircraft of any the 48th Fighter Wing has ever sent out. The jets are from the 492nd Fighter Squadron and their primary mission will be close-air support for U.S. and coalition forces. [...]
Anybody who can/will provide me the serial numbers of the 492nd EFS F-15Es which are either already enroute to Bagram AB or still slated to left RAF Lakenheath? I would be very grateful for any support.
BTW: Related tanker support info was already posted in the topic Lajes (Azores) (LPLA/TER) 2009: http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=47982. But so I think, their single stopover point enroute to Afghanistan was or should be Al Udeid AB, Qatar.
