RAF Canberras in the 90s

Post by maurits »

Hi people,

The good old Canberra have been phased out the RAF since a few years now. I would like to share some shots I have made in July 1993 during a base visit at RAF Wyton.
Inside the maintenance-hangar we got the oppertunity to take a seat in the front-seat of this recce XH131/AF:

another one, XH169/AC was outside for flying operations
Image
former 231 OCU PR7 WH779/BP and WT509/BR were still in their old grey/green camo

T17 WJ607/EB just returned from the morning mission
Image
old 100sq PR7 WT538/CJ was using as instructional airframe
Image
B2 WJ731/BK looks timely stored

at the dump this T17 WJ630/ED was just wfu

Also some shots of visiting four 360sq Canberra T17s during Falcon Nut June 1994 at Soesterberg. These planes were radar-jammers in this exercise.
T17 WH902/EK on approach

WD955/EM one of the oldest RAF planes in active service at that moment taxiing out after the lunch

WJ981/EN and also WJ986/EP on this sunny day at Soesterberg

In 1999 I caught some 39sq PR9s at their last home base RAF Marham in the hot summer sun, July 1999.
Here on the the last five PR9s XH168/AD on the runway at Marham

Finally the special blue colored WJ874 as VN799/P lands at Fairford during the RIAT1999

Hope you like them!
