EHGR Photo topic 27-01

Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

EHGR Photo topic 27-01

I had quite a nice day at Gilze today. Came back with over 500 photos of just 3 different helicopters ( :shock: ), so here's a quick selection. Maybe I will add some more later..

Many other spotters arrived from Florennes as we left, so feel free to add more photos to this topic in case I missed anything. :wink:

Cool shots! Alouette looks very crisp in that sunlight. Apache close-ups rule! But your Chinooks are a bit dark? Settings?

Sharp pics no doubt about that!

Well, you didn't miss a thing, after you left, everybody went home soon.
I drove almost 500 kms today, only to make pics at my own homebase !

Hi djderidder.

Cool shots.
Can you tell me at what spot I can find that "hill" and what amount of mm you need over there?
I have 300 mm on a Nikon DSLR, hope that is enough.

It is actually between point 5 and runway 02. Have a look in Live Maps and you will see the two landing spots and a tiny hill to stand on (west of runway 02 and directly south of the historic flight hangars). You can't miss it.

Correct, I have a 70-200 lens with 1.4x converter and that is enough. EXIF data can be found in each image.

DirkJan: your second pic is just perfect!! I love the even background of birch trees, it makes that the Allo really stands out.
Antione: indeed a superb angle on the Allo!!

It seems like these Allos do a good job being a photomodel ;)

I'd rather depict atmosphere and the 'heat of the moment' making a catchy photo than to reflect the real situation and real colours showing a boring photo.

Hi...

Thanks guys, for the info on the "Hill".
I already ussumed it would be somewhere near "Klein Zwitserland".
BTW, my lens is a Nikon AF70-300 VRII, so it will be very useful on that spot!
I also have a Nikon AF 105 2.8 VRII lens, I'll try them both over there.

Hi Wesley...

Really great shots, I definetally have to go and pay a visit to the "slopes".
Until now I only have been (all those years) at the "Langenbergse weg"...
Thanks for "showing me the way" to great chopper pics.

Good to see a lot of great quality here! Nice shots Wes! You don't need your bro for anything anymore (exept maybe to steal the 1D from him :twisted:). They look great!
