Tornado crash at Büchel 23.03.2009

According to multiple German news-sites a Tornado has crashed during landing at Büchel. Both pilots ejected when their jet ran of the runway and overturned, and were uninjured. At 13.00 hrs today the Luftwaffe will hold a press conference.

So that's the reason why 6 Buchel Tornado's landed at Ramstein yesterday.

Latest news is that the aircraft landed in bad weather. Heavy rainfall and strong winds. The aircraft ran off the runway, the pilots ejected, and the Tornado overturned multiple times, and is a total write-off. Both pilots are in hospital, their condition is not revealed.

Looks like it missed the Cable, as the arrestor hook is down (up now)

Hmmm...shouldn't the landing gear and the hook been gone, if it turned over multiple times?
Too me, it looks like it turned over and slided.....

If it turned over multiple times, the damage would have been many many more....

According to info at Flugzeugforum the serial should be 45+37 a former MFG2 Marineflieger Tornado..
Serial not confirmed yet.

45+37 was participant of tlp 2009/1 at florennes.
It was blue/grey camo and had a lightgrey underwing-fueltank to the right, and a dark one to the left at florennes.
The same as the picture shows a few posts up here.
