Super Cub OO-GDE (ex BLa L32) at Sovet (near Florennes)

Post by Buccaneer S.2B »

Good evening,

Maybe of interest for (ex) mil spotters going to Florennes:
At the private airstrip of Sovet, owned by Richard d'Huart with a nice castle (!) adjacent
to the strip, is a PA18 Super Cub based not being mentionned in the well-known publications (EMOOS2007).

This is: OO-GDE, Piper PA18-135 Super Cub, c/n 18-3106/18-3067, ex BLa L32, 53-4706. It's painted in a blue c/s.

How the strip can be reached:
At the A4 highway Namur-Dinant take exit 20 (Achene) towards Dinant. Directly turn left direction Achene, crossing the highway eastwards. In Achene turn left (minor road)
to Sovet, which is signposted. After some 3 km when the road makes a 90 degree turn
right the strip is at your left-hand side (windsock visible). The small open hangar
is near the windsock. The Cub can easily be photographed, even being inside the hangar.
The Cub was present Sat the 16th of August last year, as was (OO-ZCN, no registration externally worn) being a Scheibe Specht. Mr. d'Huart should also own the OO-ZFH (Grünau Baby) anf the OO-ZLP (Olympia Meise) but these weren't noted.

Maybe this is of use to somebody around,

regards
Remco
