Anyone news about the Lanc?

The weather seems better than yesterday, also in Lincolnshire :)

no news about departure yet, but it will be towed outside in a while, to make room for the dakota that is parked behind her... after that it will probably be parked inside again.

Spoke to the only crewmeber currently at AMS with the Lanc. Planned departure is now on thursday, depending on the weather of course.

Thursday? Just 20 minutes ago a mechanic from the DDA told me the Lanc is leaving in 30-60 minutes, anyone can confirm that?

Gr. Lennert

edit: it could be that he meant 30-60 minutes before it's towed inside the hangar.... my bad

First time poster *gulp* and in I go......

I can tell you that up until 3pm the Lanc was in the DDA hangar - I am fortunate enough to work in the office opposite where Gebouw 70 was, so could see out on the apron where she was parked up today - managed to get over the road just as she was being pushed back into the Hangar.

From what intel I have gathered the new engine is being shipped from the UK, and I did see just as the aircraft was pushed back a Dutch haulage lorry being escorted accross the apron which I thought was rather unusual unless of course this was carrying the replacement merlin.

I'm packing my camera with me to work the next couple of days and will keep a vigil for any movement and will do all I can to alert everyone if I see any movement with regards to departure. I am also trying to contact someone I know based here in Amsterdam with very strong links to the RAF who no doubt can tell me more as he will have met with the flight crew during their extended stay no doubt. Any information I can gather I will be happy to share with you guys.

Also looking forward to trying to get out this summer and photographing some displays - especially interested in veteran and modern military airshows - although I have been in Holland for some time I still to date have not even seen any Dutch military aircraft, apart from an Orion once on the train to Rotterdam - I guess the skies over Amsterdam are to congested for the air force.

Also need to buy a new decent long lens for capturing these birds in flight, so anyone perhaps with any recommendations I'll be looking out for (though I will find an appropriate forum for that)

Dank je wel/Thanks!

FYI - Both Dakotas are on the apron this morning - don't know if they are making room for the Lanc to wheel out, but if I see any movement I'll post it up here - likewise if anyone hears of anything regarding its departure please post it up
