Canon 300mm F4 IS

Post by nhoogenboom »

Hi all,
I'm considering of buying a Canon 300mm F4 IS but I found at some internet shops that there are two types on the market:
#1 productnumber: 2530A017 price: around 1200euro
#2 productnumber: 2530A024AA price: around 1800euro

Judging from the pics on the internet (here) there are some minor external differences, but are there any other (technical) differences??

Thanks in advance!!

One picture (2530A017) is a non-IS lens. I have no idea where they are gonna get this one from because afaik Canon stopped producing these.

And the other one is way too expensive. You can get better deals than EUR 1972.

Check: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/91268/ca ... s-usm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The non-IS version is indeed no longer sold, but it's a great lens though if you can do without the IS. At least I can and I have shot some great stuff with it.

For those who are intrested, I put my canon 300 mm 4.0 on marktplaats it's only 1 jr old, but í am switching to a 300 2.8.

I most agree that the 4.0 is a very good and sharp lens, but together with a 1.4 converter a prefer 300 mm 2.8
