In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Nice pics! I went on Saturday to have a look at the Aviodrome's collection and the very nice visitors, hoping that the Fw190 and Mk XIX would fly some kind of display. The weather was tricky (with a couple of showers and a good breeze, the clouds made for nice shooting). Witnessed the DDA Dak, the French D-Day veteran C-47 and the Spitfire PR Mk XIX take-off and land. Start-up (always trying to catch the smoke of piston-engines being fired-up!) was hard to watch and photograph as too many people hung around the aircraft. The re-enactors looked impressive in their WWII uniforms, but for some reason, this dressing-up, particularly in Luftwaffe-colors incl. Swastikas on their hats, feels a bit awkward to me.

Anyway, no displays :cry: , just some take-off and landings, no proper photo-opportunities with some aircraft parked between the taxi-track over which it was impossible to shoot, so it was a bit of a disappointment for me.

Hello all...

As re-enactor i must say the weekend was fabulous.
The owner of the FW-190 (made by flugwerk) was very very pleased with our group spicing up his display.

Of course there still are people who find it awkward to see German aircrew from WWII.
Let me assure you that the group which was thereL: "Den Vijand" consists of educators, historians and other professionals.

People of all walks of life who have a passion, to portray the German Luftwaffe the way it looked, and to educate people about world war II and its terrible loss of life.
All members are vehemently anti-nazi.

When the group first displayed with its Fallschirmjaeger group in the event Dordrecht Open Stad, an event portraying the heavy fighting in may 1940 between Fallschirmjaegers and 1940's Dutch troops (which were also there), there were two drunken Poles who dared to give the hitler salute when we drove past in the Borgward vehicle.

The vehicle made an immediate stop and 6 FJ soldiers jumped out, surrounded the Poles and in Angry voices made very very clear to them that salutes like that for a fascist and criminal mass murderer were absolutely not appreciated!

It was a brilliant weekend, however due to air traffic control, not too many aerobatic movements were allowed.

At the annual Duxford Flying Legends Airshow you should not be surprised to encounter the Afrika Korps... :twisted:
It is mostly RAF and US Army personnel enactors at DUX that are protecting the aircraft during the Flightline Walk though. At least they don't have to wear those hideous High-viz fluo vests... :evil:

Well, I remain at my opinion that I consider people who voluntarily dress in Nazi WWII uniforms to be scary indeed......

Visiting events such as this one with lots of entertainment and amusement always brings a big smile on my face ! :)
Again the organizers succeeded in bringing together many historic planes and they always manage to provide us with something different. I'm thinking back of a day which I enjoyed very much and cannot wait till the next time !

Apparently this had something to do with a lack of "ramp space" at the Aviodrome. All aircraft had to continue taxiing until they were within the Aviodrome grounds/fences.
Only then a tug would be attached or the plane would be pushed by hand. Of course taxiing aircraft need more room to manoevre than inactive ones...

Well, indeed we are not forced into the uniforms.

Our group wears outfits from Roman times to WWII, sometimes USAAF, sometimes LW, sometimes USN or RAF.

We attend commemorations, schools, museums et cetera.

But if you do not know what re-enactment or living history is all about, it is of course normal to be mistaken about the intentions.

Personally, i find people voting for Wilders much scarier...

The best day was sunday, on saturday pilots were not allowed to fly aerobatics due to
some official monitoring in the control tower. Sunday it was allowed, not without thanx to the Pitts Special who performed a great show after which obviousely others started asking and were allowed.

Hello all,

Maybe the "aviation spectacle" was a bit of an overstatement, but is was nice to see the FW190 with the dressed up Germans. Too bad the FW lost it's Swastika because of an airshow in Germany where it will fly.

Come on guys....It's part of history and this must be told and shown, nothing scary about that. I think it's hypocrite to say the men and women showing this history are scary people, you don't watch to war movies if there is a German uniform in it????
