REQ: Spotting conditions and information @ Palma de Mallorca
Hi ladies,
Next monday I will fly with flight 4U0584 at 05:40(LT) from Köln/Bonn Airport to Aéropuerto de Palma de Mallorca.
Of course me and my dad will bring our camera's(Canon EOS 40Ds) with us, so we want to go to the airport and photograph some planes.
Unluckily I am not familiar with the area and the airport. But I know there are some guys on this community forum which know the airport like it is their home.
Perhaps someone is as enthousiastic as I am about this airport, and is prepared to give me some useful information about he spotting locations, security(scanners allowed? etc.)etc.
I have been there last year only to have a quick look on the mil. ramp. I don´t know how you travel, but we had a rental car and after driving around a little we managed to find a spot where we could have a look on the mil. area of the base. When I have a look at google maps I am pretty sure that we had a look at the end of a little road named cami de la muntanya or camino muntanya (I think it is a different name for the same road). From this spot you can have a clear view on the mil. hangar and ramp. If you have a good look between the buildings next to the hangar a mainly white with yellow preserved AB205A is visible with fake serial EC-SSJ, original serial is HE.10A-6. With a good set of binoculars it should be possible to read quite a few serials from here. Photography possibilities are quite poor on this spot. I don't know anything about spotting possibilies around the rest of the airfield. We were there only for 15 minutes or so and didn't have any problems with security.
Hopefully someone else can help you a bit more then I can.
I hope you have a nice trip and I am looking forward to see a report on this messageboard.
For flightinfo I always use following: http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?pagename=Home" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just select at the arrivaltab Palma de Mallorca and enter; it'll give you all expected flights for the next 24 hours.
Regards, Roger
