can anyone confirm apart from ph bfn which 747s have the new economy seats? phbfn has new system in economy and business and i think bfh has the new system but only in economy! all very odd!
Only the PH-BFN has the new economy seats installed. The next aircraft to receive the new seats is the PF-BFV, with the modification starting in the beginning of November.
I flown the PH-BFO out of JFK last june in with the old seats. This was very uncomfortable in my opinion.
But I flown the PH-BFN out of NBO last august and it was very nice. Good clear and big screen with good inflight entertainment!
Is it really true that only 2 KL 747's (BFN and BFH) fly with the new economy seats and PTV's at this moment? Has anybody got a list when the rest of the 747's will be upgraded?
Nope only PH-BFN has the new tv screens fitted in the seats the PH-BFV will be next that's confirmed i'm working on it.
Should be ready at 23th of December if everything goes acc. plan he has to be certified (due to an combi serial) so that will take some time.
Took a picture inside the hangar actually. This is what it looks like:
More up to standard than the old seats I think. Next step would be doing something about that middle seat in the 777 Business Class, but that's a completely other discussion...
How many days do the need to retrofit the economy class seats for 1 aircraft? Will this be done during a regular FC maintenance visit? If everything goes according plan, when will the last KL 747 be finshed?

Do they retrofit the economy class seats (with the PTV's) in the KL 747's at the same time while installing the new Economy comfort class?

The Project will last until next year (november 2010) the next planes planned for the project are the full pax'sPH-BFL,PH-BFG,PH-BFB and PH-BFA.
The first combi to be finished is PH-BFV and is in progress right now but due to an combi model it has to be certified, so as i mentioned before so thats why it will take 4 weeks but the upcoming once are planned to be done in two weeks.
Your answer is clear. So in a bad situation the economy comfort class will be installed (remaining the old seats) in a KL 747 and one month later the aircraft goes into maintenane again for installing the new economy seats (including the PTV's) in the whole economy class (so including the economy comfort zone)? That looks like double work or am I wrong?
