I have an issue with Ryan ST "G-BYPY".
Everywhere it is stated this is a PT-22 (ST-3KR) with c/n 1001.
Aerofiles on the other hand, has c/n 1001 as a XPT-16/YPT-16, without a military registration, but with civil registration NX18920.
But G-BYPY is not a ST-A/PT-16 variant (anymore) as it lacks the spats covering the mainwheels to start with (but I'm not an expert enough to see the differences with the engine cowling).
But according to Joe Baugher the XPT-16 has c/n 306, and the YPT-16 & PT-16 as c/n's between 307 and 321 (excluding 312).
Also according to Baugher, the PT-21's (of which many were converted to PT-22) and PT-22's only start at c/n 1002.
And I think the civil registration with Aerofiles is a typo for NX18926, which seems to be confirmed by 3G Classic Aviation, who also have it as a ST-3KR and not a PT-16.
Who can confirm that G-BYPY indeed is c/n 1001, being a 'real' ST-3KR -the prototype, and not a PT-22-, never flew with the USAAC, but was registered directly from N18926 to F-AZEV and later to G-BYPY? (And Aerofiles indeed missed it somewhere). Sources would be nice
