New USN Herc colours???

[Shannon spotter]

Hi all, both Hercs shot at Shannon yesterday. Last time i saw 165314 it had the standard USN colours as 164993 has.
Any ideas why it was changed?

Thank you for your interest in U.S. naval aviation.

VR-62 is the first Navy C-130 squadron to have this new glossy paint scheme which is supposed to provide better corrosion prevention and reduced wind friction for greater True Air Speed and thus better fuel burn performance.

165314 is the first and only Navy C-130 aircraft to have this new paint. It is in the operational testing phase right now.
