night pictures in adobe photo elemens 6.0

Post by rutger330 »

good morning all,

i have got a question,
I took some night photo's at maastricht in RAW now i want to add them like say adjusting the yellowish airport lights into white lights (a normal procedure) but I use adobe photoshop elements 6.0, I looked and searched for it myself to find something that can change the colour of the lights but did not find anything.

my question: could somebody explain me were i can find it and what do i need to do if i want the yellow lights to become white lights?

thanks in advance

Grt Rutger :)
kind regards,

Rutger Patterson

Hi Rutger,

If you open your RAW, you will have to make some adjustments before it shows in Element. Can you adjust color temperature in that first window ? If so, reduce the color temperature until the yellow becomes more natural.

Another option is to select Image - Adjustments - Curves, and take the middle of the three color pickers (called middle grey). Find something that is supposed to be average grey, and click it. Every pixel has a different value, so you may have to pick more than two or three times to pick the right shade of grey.

Try it and let us know....

Good luck,
Iwan

Is it part of your problem that you do not use the right CameraRAW version?
e.g. you have a newer camera than is included in the version of CameraRAW?

Yes, the right white balance setting will fix this for you.

One more thing, why shoot in S + RAW when you are planning to use the RAW anyway? The JPeg is generated from the RAW and if you do not change certain settings it will look the same.( And you'd better work on the RAW file than the JPG.)

You will have more space on the CF card ;)
