Today an emergency landing of a Black Hawk (0-24643). Training flight with start and end at the Coleman Barracks in Mannheim. Between Lambsheim Flomersheim came the message / warning gearbox, so you are forced landing in a field.
U.S. Army airfield fire service, MPs etc. came directly from Manheim
After the error analysis (allegedly was a seal of the hydraulic transmission leak) a spare part came from Coleman to replaced.
Ca. Four hours later the box was running again and they flew back to the Coleman Barracks.
The affected farmer will be compensated accordingly, of course, who was also on the spot.
