F-104 Beervelde - Belgium.

Post by kmarrie »

Can anyone confirm that the FX-79 is still in the town of Beervelde?

I heard that this plane has to be very close to the highway A14/E17 Antwerpen-Gent (exit nr 11), but can anyone give my the street name?

Greetings Ralph

Well, in July 2009 it was still there on top of its container. It is located at a yard containing lots of containers and other heavy equipment. The yard is located between the Raveschoot and the E17 highway, just NE of exit 11 off the E17. if you use Google maps you can see it next to the right-hand side of the terrain...

No problem. You can actually (and easily) see it from the E17; when heading towards Koksijde you pass it (it's on your right hand side) just before you reach the exit. So, if you're in a hurry you won't even have to get off the highway... Happy hunting!

It was still around early May. That is; I guess it still is the same, as I only saw the silhouette when passing in the dark ;-)

FX-79 is still there. I took a picture as we drove by early May and the serial was clearly visible on the fuselage.
