Flying F-117

Post by wamovements »

Don't want to spread any area51 rumours, but according to a post on the forum of dreamlandresort.com a F-117 was flying in the beginning of this month. The guy included a picture: real or fake???

Dennis Peteri

It could very well be possible that the USAF flies them to maintain airworthiness or proficiency in maintenance and operations.

While I have no doubt the USAF has kept at least some in flying condition, the photo says nothing. It could have been taken ages ago....
Answers will be questioned.....

Why shouldn't it be Possible and I think it is.
When I visited Nellis in March of this year we had a lecture and presentation about the constant peg program.
This lecture was given by Colonel (Ret.) Gaillard (Gail) R. Peck Jr who was the creator of the Constant Peg training program.
He said that the F117's are stored in special climate controlled hangars at Tonopah and are not mothballed like the planes at Amarc at Davis Monthan.
So It's very possible that the fleet or at least some of them are still operational.
I think that that project was a little to expensive to just retire them and scrap them.
Just my 2ct's

At Fencecheck (kinda like the US version of Scramble forum) there is someone who claims to have seen it flying:

Too bad he's not willing to share the video.
