First trip to Skrydstrup this year

First trip to Skrydstrup this year

Went to skrydstrup for a couple of hours yesterday, due to the fact that RNLAF was practicing approaches with G-273.
NATO had also requested approaches later the same day, but never showed up.

RDAF had a few F16 in the air (as usual), and caught some of them as well..

Later the same evening, The Great Wall Airlines landed in Billund with B-2433.
So I had to start the car once again and I got these shots :)

RDAF have the best looking F-16's in Europe! The RNLAF can take an example of it.

Thanks for putting these images up! Am again reinforced in my view that "short Herculeses" look better than "lengthened ones" :twisted: .

The "practice Sidewinders" do a good job somewhat "brightening up the dull weather".

1. Like the Norwegians, their paint is semi-gloss, whereas the standard F-16AM/BM scheme for Dutch, Belgian and other "non-Have Glass paintjobs" operators is matt (the "Have Glass" paint of course tends to be looking even more worn down after just a few months of operations)

Obviously, both observations stem from the fact that Danish and Norwegian F-16's generally operate in a much more salty environment than the Belgians and Dutch (that do a lot of overland work), so corrosion is a big fear there and the paint is used as much for protection of the airframe as for camouflage.

You see, the matt finish has a rough surface. That is the reason it is matt in the first place, the surface reflects the light in more directions. But on a matt surface, dirt an salt will cling very well.
A (semi) gloss surface is much smoother, giving less opportunity for dirt and salt to cling.
