Dyess AFB, TX (KDYS/DYS) - 2011 MIL

Post by Oscar01 »

Hi,

After looking on Sunday (31-01-2011), but with too many heatwaves, I started at 07.00 from the outside. First saw the preserved F-4 (see scramble guide) and then went to the 707 street. With a 60 times the bones are easy to read. The herc were not possible because of the angle of the light (they are parked different then the B-1s) and because of my imediate departure to next base (see other log).
B-1B, all coded DY:
85-0064 / 0074 / 0084 / 0088 / 0089
86-0103 / 0105 / 0107 / 0112 / 0124 / 0126 / 0130 / 0132 / 0135 / 0136
85-0059/9BS
85-0065/28BS
85-0073/7OG
86-0117/7BW

Visit:
06-1437 C-130J 143AS dep Rhody37
06-1438 C-130J 143AS dep Rhody38
2x C130H TX ANG
2x C130 yellow tail
1x C-5A TX ANG

Unread were 3 B-1Bs and approx 18 C-130s

Regards,
Oz

What was your position regarding the spots in the Scramble Airfield Guide.
I was planning a visit next month, so I am very curious.

Hi,

Look at that map and the 707 road is your spot. This one lays parralel to the runway and the ramp, there are lots of places you can stop and read the stuff. I think for the b-1s you must take the southern side of the 707.

One addition to my log from picture is: 74-1691 took off.

Oz
