Boeing Delivers UAE Air Force and Air Defence's First C-17
The first of six C-17A Globemaster IIIs was handed over to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Force and Air Defence during a ceremony at the company’s final assembly facility in Long Beach.

Four of the UAE’s C-17As will be delivered this year with the final two scheduled to leave the Long Beach plant next year.
The UAE joins the Royal Air Force, the Qatar Emiri Air Force, the Canadian Forces, the Royal Australian Air Force, and the 12-member Strategic Airlift Capability initiative of NATO and Partnership for Peace nations in operating the type.
The new jet, serial number 1223 arrived at Le Bourget, Paris on May 12, 2011.
