Cargo plane arrives at Fort Lee by truck

PETERSBURG, Va. — A lumbering Air Force cargo plane has arrived at Fort Lee, where it will be a classroom for airmen.

The 116-foot C-130 Hercules aircraft arrived by truck at the Petersburg base this weekend, snarling traffic in the process.

The aircraft was previously at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

The Progress-Index of Petersburg reports that Fort Lee can now lay claim to a mini-squadron of Air Force planes, none of which can fly. The aircraft are used for training.

Fort Lee has undergone a big expansion, part of the nation’s base realignment.
