according to armyaircrews.com#89-00175 "EXTORTION 17"
A/C crashed occurred at approx 0300 hours at Tangi Joi Zareen, in the district of Sayd Abad in Wardak Province during an insurgent operation. Early reports indicate A/C was shot down by an RPG.
Well 175 is a D-model, which is cinsistent with reports that it was a "standard" Chinook on the mission, not a SOAR MH-47G as initially believed, but inconsistent with reports that it was a Chinook with the latest avionics, which would be Fox models. Course, those reports are coming from CNN so.....wonju666 wrote:according to armyaircrews.com#89-00175 "EXTORTION 17"

Initial reports in Army Times shows 1 Nebraska and 1 Kansas NG soldier were 2 of the Army crew on the aircraft. I do know that Kansas NG did have CH-47Ds in country in that area as of a few months ago, but their crews and regular army crews that flew CH-47Fs often crewed in the different models.

barely footage of the wreckage. must be what was left behind after the actual wreckage was hauled out of there. the "Made In Germany" weapon that the media beefed up into some crazy story was a Heckler and Koch (H&K) built version of the M-4, which the Seals and other Special operators use regularly. H&Ks are made in Germany, unlike their Colt, Springfield, etc. counterparts that the regular armed forces M-16/M-4s. That is all.Rockville wrote:AP has footage of the wreckage.
