Independence day parade Kiev

Post by Thijs »

Every year at 24 August, the Ukraine celebrates it's independence with a large military parade in the city of Kiev. Part of this parade is a fly-past of helicopters and fighters of the Ukraine Air Force. Does anyone know from which airfield the fighters and helicopters operate?

By a decree of the President the flight past was cancelled this year, see http://www.president.gov.ua/documents/13796.html

According the Scramble Airshow Calender the fly past will be held in 2012 again.
As the question from above was not answered, I'll ask it again.

Does anyone know which airfield the participating airfield will be operating?

Best regards Rob.

In previous years most of the participating aircraft (like MiG-29, Su-25, Mi-8, Mi-24, An-26, Be-12) operated from Vasilkov.
Only the Su-24 and Su-27 operated from their respective homebases Starokonstantinov and Mirgorod.
Also the Il-76 did not operate from Vasikov but I am not sure where it came from, perhaps Melitopol or Borispol.
In the weeks leading up to the parade serveral times a rehearsal was flown.
