What do you mean by "alternative" freq...? - Several years ago, the main calling freq was 11.176 kHz, - now - depending to the distance from aircraft to land-radio-station, - freq is 11.175 kHz... - actually the following freqs are in regular use:
The op on the ground station elects the freq
depending distance to aircraft, - and kind of
message to be transmitted.
I have on several occasions replied the aircraft,
when no ground station has replied, for inst
confirming radio check.
The aircraft has on such occasions said thank
you, whereas Croughton was sour that an
outsider mixed in the traffic. For the air men up
there it is uncomfortable, if they dont get confirmed
that their radio equipment is working well. They need
an immediate reply.
