Had contact with KB recently to arange a basevisit in september 2012. They told me that september and october 2012 will be very busy at KB so no visits allowed during that period. I don't know if the CAMAO-excersize is one of the reasons KB is busy then.

Off topic. For those who are wondering if we were granted a visit. Yes, but I cancelled it due to a change in photography-regulations at KB. Photography at base isn't allowed anymore during visits.

Off topic, but I understand a spotters group from the North of the Netherlands recently found this out the hard way, i.e. only on the day itself :?:

In september you have Sanicole airshow and the airplanes are based at KB then, and the 2 weeks after Sanicole there is a big helicopter excercise in the area, so that might bring some traffic too at KB

The helicopter exercise is the one that normaly was planed at Beauvechain.
50 to 60 helicopters will attend "Green Blade" (also called the Red Flag for choppers)

Which will be the date for this exercise?
Thanks

Sorry to read that no more spottersdays will be held due to this rule. Once KeeBee was one of the most spotter-friendly bases.

My wish for 2012: Hope they (KeeBee) arrange a spotterday during an exercise and allow photography on that day :) .

Grtz,

Edward.

It's not said that there won't be any spottersday at Kee Bee.
There's only going to be one if they can keep-up there good name as spottersday organizer.

So, a little patience and a lot prayers :-)

"Finding it out the hard way". Just to be clear, they were clearly informed of this fact !

When you organise a basevisit to KeeBee you have to fill in a document with :
- all the names and personal details of the participants
- indicate SEPERATELY on the same document who will be the photographer, there is one photographer allowed per visiting group.

So now claiming they didn't know in advance is a bit.... strange !

This rule will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

As Stef said, there is still a fair chance that there will be spottersdays in the future, but when and in what format, remains to be seen.

Best regards,

Laurent

The “GREEN BLADE 12” exercise will be held from 18 September till 5 October 2012. The Leopoldsburg barracks, as well as the adjacent airfield of Sanicole, will serve as the Deployed Operating Base (DOB) for this exercise. Furthermore, the airfield of Kleine-Brogel will serve as a hub for all fixed-wing type operations.

More details can be found at http://www.eda.europa.eu/events/12-09-1 ... N_BLADE_12

Have fun!

Does anyone know why there is a very strict Photography Policy at Kleine Brogel at this moment? Did anyone jumped over the fence or photographed militairy installations?

This year, a base visit of GRAS was arranged and all the invited spotters moved away because of the new Photography Policy.

This policy is not good for the relation between spotters and Kleine Brogel Airforce Base.

Thx.

Call me stupid,

But i don't see the link between the KeeBee policy and it being bad for the relationship with the spotters.
As i assume "real" spotters know there is more to their hobby than simple f..king things up in order to get a descent photo.
And unfortunatly there seems to be a small but steadily growing group of "aviation hooligans" that have only one thing in mind....

Having said this, i'm hoping for the best ...

Sure... that's why we all showed up. Had to wait for quite some time and then we were put in a bus to hear the "good" news.
The people of the organization who were present did not know. The military guy who told us the news in the bus
also did not know. The angry looking military guy who stood next to him... well I guess he knew...
Don't steal my pictures...

Do you know for a fact that the new regulations were implemented as a result of 'bad behaviour' or are you guessing?

PS Can you be more specific about the steadily growing group of "aviation hooligans" you are talking about? Do you have some examples to indicate what you mean?

The policy at KeeBee is stricter than on other Belgian airbases because of the presence of certain stuff that officially is not there, but we all know it is. The 'foreign' nationals (so non-Belgian) are not so keen on having a lot of photographing visitors.¨
Just as a side note, it's nog 'against' planespotters, it's more against another group of spotters (who are more interested in the stuff mentioned above), but i'm afraid we all paying the price for it at this moment.
It's not a 'local' rule from the KeeBee command or PR-dept, far from that, it comes from higher up the chain of command.

As you can see I'm a member of KBSpotting and the KB Air Museum, and we have a great relationship with the base, but even if we request a base-visit for our members we have to follow the same rule, one photographer per group. And when you request it you are clearly informed about this fact. I myself organised a visit for my colleagues and I had to fill in the paperwork, and it's very hard to 'miss' this, I know what I'm talking about ! And as I said in a previous post the rule will remain in place for the foreseeable future, but on the positive side when there is an opportunity to organise a spotterday from a high standard, it will happen !

Best regards,

Laurent
