Etihad Airlines has taken a 30% interest in Air Berlin, according to reports in Dutch newspaper Telegraaf. It has also started four flights a week from Abu Dhabi to Düsseldorf, thus connecting the two networks. Dutch aviation industry and Schiphol apparently take a dim view of such a potent competitor right on the doorstep of the home market...
