REQ: Switzerland @ 1 May

Post by boonens »

I am planning a trip to Switzerland and have a quick question.

It seems that 1 May (Labour Day) is an official holiday in only a few Swiss cantons, however, not in the canton of Bern (Meiringen) and Obwalden (Alpnach). Can I expect (WK) business as usual on that day, or does one of you have firsthand experience that it can be very quiet?

This public holiday is not so important in Switzerland. Except Dübendorf all airbases should be open. If you go to Alpnach, a visit to the nearby Emmen is not wrong. Many different aircrafts are flying there but jet activities are mostly limited (on average 4-5 Jets per day).
