Questions about spotting in Northern Italy

I'm planning a vacation in may, most probably on the southside of Lake Garda. I want to go spotting aswell, and would like to know some possibility's in the vicinity of Lake Garda.
Most of all I like the military stuff, but how is that in Italy? By that I mean possible problems with security/police. Ghedi, Treviso-Istrana and perhaps Aviano are some fields nearby. Think Aviano is worth paying a vistit, but what about the other 2?
And what about civilian airfields and possible problems with security/police? I want to take pictures and don't write numbers...

Some info or link to another topic would be helpfull...

Hi,

I was last August near Pechiera del Garda and will go there this year again.
For wrecks&relics there are a lot off planes to see in the area.
I went to Ghedi, but close to the fence security kept me in sight. I guess you can make good landing shots if you keep some distance from the fence. Hide near the cornfields near the approach.
For civil Verona is active and should be good.

If you are going there anyway, why not give it a shot at Ghedi and Treviso-Istrana?

People have been taking pictures there for decades. Ghedi tends to be a bit more tricky then Istrana.

Worst thing that can happen is that they send you away. Never had any problems at Istrana, nor at Ghedi (as far as I can recall).

For military Aviano is the one to go, a lot of traffic. In Ghedi and Istrana are not flying so much. Ghedi and Istrana are good for photography, in Ghedi it's better to hide yourself but there are nice spot for landing and take off shots

PLS in Italy do not take pictures towards the base and do not stay close to the fence. we are tolerated here, but spotting is not so open like in Holland or UK.

for civil verona is OK and there is Bergamo if you like. Venice is good in summer only in the afternoon

Correct, Ghedi is close untill 13 july. All the tornado's are at Piacenza...
