VMM-561 deactivate

Post by Le Addeur noir »

On Friday 6th July 2012,VMM-561'Pale Horses' was deactivated at MCAS Miramar,CA.

As reported on the Kadena section the 12 MV-22B Ospreys assigned to this unit have been shipped to Okinawa.

Upon arrival at the military port of Naha, these airplanes will form into VMM-265 'Dragons',replacing one of the two resident CH-46E Sea Knight squadrons at MCAS Futenma.

The second CH-46E unit at MCAS Furenma,HMM-262 'Tigers' will receive Ospreys in FY13 and stand up at MCAS Futenma on 01 October 2013.

The second Osprey squadron cut from the proposed future Osprey units,VMM-562 was still in cadre status when the decision to eliminate two Osprey units was announced in January 2012.
