Tucson iap is a spotters and photographers paradise! there are a few spots where you can get close to the taxiways, landing shots are also possible. best spot (in my opinion) is in front of the control tower to the right and al way down when you reach a fence, from here you can take fine pics in the morning, on this spot you are standing in the middle of some private cessna's etc...maybe some locals will check you but don't be nervous, just say wat you'r up about and want to do and you will be fine..here some shots i made in february 2010...http://www.flickr.com/photos/virtualtwe ... 261711369/
Tucson is indeed a very spotters friendly airport , and as mentioned by Falcon , as long as you don't use a ladder even the cops will not bother you , keep in mind they have always the right to tell you to pack up if they get a complaint from i.e. the FBO or Air Force SF. But rarely you will find yourself packing up , just stay polite and respectful and you too will see that under the Sonora Sun everything is possible.
Was in Tucson two weeks ago and got rained out of the place , a flash flood cut our visit short but nevertheless was able to get some pictures of those stored by the Ascent facility. No flying that day because of the weather conditions , too bad because i was looking for some F-16 action.
