The Bergamo-based INAER Aviation Italia' Eurocopter EC145 I-BLGN crashed just after 18:00 hours in Morbegno, outside Sondrio. The rescue helicopter crashed in forest in the Orobie Alps with passengers and pilots safely escaping.

The helicopter involved in the crash: Eurocopter EC145 c/n 9438 was registered I-BLGN with INAER Aviation Italia SpA, as operator and Unicredit Leasing, as owner, on 1 September 2011.
