S. Korean Fighter Jet Deployed in Response to N. Korean NLL Violation

The South Korean military deployed a fighter jet on Friday after half a dozen North Korean fishing boats crossed over the Northern Limit Line in the West Sea.

A military source, who asked not to be named, says the F-15K fighter jet was equipped with air-to-surface and air-to-air missiles, and added that a joint response force was also standing by at the ready.

South Korean patrol boats fired warning shots toward six North Korean fishing vessels after they crossed the NLL, the seaward extension of the inter-Korean border.

All six North Korean boats retreated following the warning shots.

Including yesterday's violations, North Korean vessels have crossed the border on five separate occasions this month.
