I hope that when this day will be held at 2013 it will be a day like into 2011, but with more flying planes and bigger airshows.mirage 69 wrote:according to Flugzeugforum there will probably be an "open house" at Spangdahlem in the weekend from 11-12 may!

Thanks Roelof-Jan, and let's hope for some interesting stuff!gortje wrote:Hi,Jeroen Bos wrote:Sorry for asking, I'm a kind of a newbe... Can you just go and visit the Open House (when confirmed of course) or do you have to be registered in advance?
Last year (2011) it wasn't needed to register yourself.
Maybe they will change if this year if this day will be held.
The security is very strictly with their controls at the gates, so it is forbidden to bring any drinks, pocket knifes, etc with you!!
And about the A10s on Spangdahlem, the most of their A10s are already moved back to Moody AFB into the USA.
This year they will return all their A10s. So we haven't expect any A10s this day into 2013.
I hope they will invite some nice squadrons with their planes. We should see.

Looks like good news, However i doubt that Hogs loaned to Moody wil return to Europe.nilsko wrote:This month's AirForcesMonthly seem to give another picture. They actually talked to the 52nd FW (nice one, why didn't anyone think of that.. ) and they stated and I quote "...moves previously approved by Congress are stopped until spring of FY13, pending a new Continuing Resolution.."
So maybe still some Hogs after all at Spang.
The 4 Hogs that left in October where said to be temporary loaned to the Moody wing.
Only 4 Hogs have left Spang already, and that's 100% for sure. The "rest" is still at Spangdahlem, flying almost 2-3 times a day with a maximum of 5 acft. per wave!gortje wrote:Hi,
When you read the information on http://warthognews.blogspot.nl you can read all the latest news of the A10s that are flying all over the world.
When you read the information on http://warthognews.blogspot.nl/2012/11/ ... ow-at.html you reed that these four A10s of Spangdahlem has still the tail code SP but it seems that they already been transfered to the 23rd Wing of Moody AFB.
I think that all the A10s of Spangdahlem will be transfered to this or an another Squadron.
We can read that the 81th FS of Spangdahlem will be mooved before March 2013.
So i think we haven't exspect any A10s from Spangdahlem on this Open House.
It is sad to see that the withdrawal has already begun and that they do this so quietly without an spottersday or something.
What i've read on this blog is that already eight of the A10s from Spangdahlem are mooved to the USA for CONUS.
When i'm right, there are now i think already twelve A10s left on Spangdahlem. When i'm wrong i like to hear it from you.
Back to the Open House on Spangdahlem 2013.
It will be very nice when they will invite the A10 West Coast Demo team to give all the visitors an nice show.
So we should see or it continues.
