Ramstein - infra discussion

Post by falcx »

Hallo Rob,

Thanks for posting. Nice pictures :)

I could understand that you feel safe to place pic's like this on the scramble site,
and of course you have every right!, but for me , as a spotter who has been there
hundreds of times in the past, you are making it (more) difficult for us at the fence
each time shot's like the 1st one are placed on the net.
In no way am I asking/ telling you not to make pic's like these, just restain yourself
from placing them. Just my 2 cents (to a subject that has been mentioned often enough).

Regards,
Charles

That's correct Charles...

nice photo's indeed, but please please keep them for your privat collection.
Aircrafts in the air no problem, but no picture's on ground or in the direction of the airbase.
So it keep for the die hard Ramstein spotters easier and with no police check a very nice day to stay at Ramstein

Can you please be more specific about the problems that have occured as a result of such photos? I have been heading for Ramstein since 1984 and until now (been there in April this year for the last time) the only 'problems' I have encountered are police checks ("What are you guys doing?"). That's it... AFAIK we can all still do our thing around Ramstein despite hundreds of infrastructure pictures that have emerged in the recent decades.

Hmm, although it's been a while since I've been there I do remember somewhere in 2005 all the pictures on our cameras were checked on infra.

When they check your id cards , polizei cops always request to not take pictures of the infra.
Its the same rule in France and maybe elsewhere..(eheh ? )

I come there also on a regular base and can only agree!! No pictures of infa on any forums please!!
So please remove them and if you are visitor of flugzeugforum as well you should now....
Just recently something like this was posted of Spangdahlem airbase as well were police had enthousiast delete their infa structure pictures!!

Nice catch by the way.

Hello

I would like to ask the people in question who monitor the forums , to move this discussion to another forum , it distracts from this forum , while i fully understand and 10 out of 10 times comply with the wishes of local authorities when it comes to 'no photography of the infrastructure' I think that in this modern day and age everything is already posted and over on-line so what's the big deal , here ? Can we just move on , showing pictures to all that are interested in Aviation and that's all there is too this.

Just my five cents.

Stefan,

I have been checked by police as well (a lot) at both Ramstein and Spang. I think Ramstein is a bit more relaxing, where as Spang the guys seem to be more frustrated. Also the US police at Spang is looking at both Flugzeugforum and Scramble. They told me (already year and half ago) that they didn't like the infra structure visible on the pictures posted at (at that time) flugzeugforum. They did easily remember picture, date and name of poster.......

What I one day did was just taking pictures of the tails of AMC a/c on the ramp at spang, because I didn't have my notebook with me (so for remembring serials). On 1 picture there was a very small part of one of the buildings visible. He went nuts. When I explained, he understood, but I still had to delete the picture.

So yes, I'm still taking pictures at Ramstein from a/c on the runway (so with Infra), but won't post them.....

Oz

This discussion is bit simlar to the Eindhoven / P4 discussion a while back (see http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php? ... =Eindhoven) .

In my opinion the question of self-censorship is irrelevant. We need the authorities to practice our hobby, so if we can accomodate them in not posting pics of infra we should respect this. We need them more than they need us and we might not like this, but it's the bitter reality. The fact that hundreds of pics are already online doesn't make this different.

for the first time I agree with Oscar so donn‘t post photos with infra

the polizei told me at Spangdahlem making photo‘s is ok but no infra and you must 15 meters away from the fence so you get no problems at Spangdahlem when i have probles with the US police i always asking for the German polizei

regards
Egbert
