Malta-Luqa (LMML/MLA) 2013 CIV

Post by Rubberneck »

15/04/13 - 19-04/13

15/04/13

flew in from Manchester on Easyjet A320 G-EZTY landing on Rwy 13.

I was sat on the right hand side of the plane and landing on this runway allowed views of some of the maintenance hangers, some of the Armed Forces hangars and some of the stored aircraft.

outside of Lufthansa Technic hangar (right hand side of rwy 23) I noted

Lufthansa A340 http://rowenaquilina.webs.com/ shows 2 present.
Arik Air B737 http://rowenaquilina.webs.com/ shows as 5N-MJI
???? 2 x A320 http://rowenaquilina.webs.com/ shows as 5A-ONA & SU-MNB
TAM A340 http://rowenaquilina.webs.com/ shows as PT-MSN A345 stored
DC-8 http://rowenaquilina.webs.com/ shows as 4R-EXJ

further down were the remains of a red tailed DHC-7 which I believe is HB-IVX.

on the left hand side of rwy 23 there was a BAC 1-11 and a B707/720
which I believe are 9L-LDJ and N720JR respectively.

Just as we passed over the rwy 13 / 05 intersection on the right hand side were some Armed Forces hangars. Outside of one was a Be200 with another visible inside (as they only have 2 should be AS1126 & AS1227)

far end of rwy 13 on the right hand side are the Medavia hangars with a BAe146 and a Mil C212 outside. http://rowenaquilina.webs.com/ shows these to be stored B463 9H-ELE and ex Spanish AF C212 T.12B-53.

sharing the terminal ramp with us were EZY A320 G-EZUW, RYR B738s EI-EBI & EKH, VDA An124 RA-82043 and Polish Govt E170 SP-LIG, plus AMC A319/320s.

19/04/14

EZY A320 G-EZWG returned me home and on the terminal ramp with us were EZY A320 G-EZTJ, RYR B738 EI-EFB and VDA An124 RA-82043 along with Be200 OK-UNO, plus AMC A319/320s. NAX B738 LN-DYW passed through whilst I was waiting for my flight home.

The dep rwy was rwy 23 and again I was sat on the right hand side, which allowed views of the cargo apron which had SWN ATP LX-WAF, BCS B752 D-ALEF and TVS B738 HA-LKE.

An Armed Forces Islander landed as we waited at the hold. Just before we got to the hold we passed a stored Windjet A320 and another was noted near the Lufthansa Technic hangars http://rowenaquilina.webs.com/ shows these to be EI-DFO & DOP. As we lined up on rwy 23 you get good views of the GA/Biz aprons. Lots of tiddlers and a few biz present.
Couldn't read them as we rolled (to bumpy) but there was a LJ60 (colours match 9H-AFJ) and C500 (colours match 9H-AJJ) and CS-DRS Hawker 800.
