Damaged Valkenburg Dakota sold off...

De Douglas C-47 Dakota die in 2010 zwaar beschadigd raakte toen het tijdens wegtransport vast kwam te zitten onder een viaduct op de A44,
is verkocht aan 'Dakotahunter' Hans Wiesman.

De vleugels zijn al doorverkocht aan Metaal Recycling in Son.

Sold for just 8000 euros, to be converted into "art" .... tears in my eyes!

Actually it's not so bad...Hans is a great guy who really respects the aircraft and he will make sure that parts are made available to other operators of C-47's to keep them airworthy. I know that it really upsets him to see Daks scrapped without a thought for their real value to the community, we should be grateful that he is involved with this one.
