A delegation Argentina, among which was the outgoing Minister Arturo Puricelli, was present at the International Exhibition of Defence and Security LAAD Defence & Security, held in Rio de Janeiro during the last days of April.
The Fair provided a context for efforts to be undertaken regarding the acquisition of Mirage F-1M fighters to Spain. As note above, a committee of our country had already visited the Spanish base of Los Llanos to inspect the Mirage F-1M, which the Air Force that country will soon dropped.
Although no official information, the looks point to the AFB VI based in Tandil, because as NEW ERA stand out in its issue of March 11, should deprogram its existing fleet of Mirage before year end.
In this context, these days you try to close the incorporation of a batch of F-1M copies flight status and another lot that would serve as a source of spare parts.
According to locals morning reported in recent days, Brigadier Alexander Moresi (Chief of Plans, Programs and Budget of the FAA), was instructed by the Secretary of Planning of the Ministry of Defense to request the Spanish Air quote for batch of 12 Mirage F-1M.
The F-1M that seeks to acquire Argentina have an average of 6500 hours of flight, indicating that "should be subjected to a deep covered to be a viable option for the FAA," say the specialists.
Not true!!! The pilots prefer the latest Mirage 2000-5 aircraft (not the offered Mirage 2000C). However, the Kfir has been opted by various Aviation Spotter Group forums in Argentina, the pilots have other idea'sF17_114PM wrote:Yes, the deal is not still done. By the way, from talks with FAA Mirage pilots, they would prefer the Kfir instead of the Mirage F-1.
That's very nice, we all can't wait to see your logs and photos from that visitF17_114PM wrote:I don´t have any reason not to believe you, but I was writing only what the pilots told me during a recent visit to Tandil

Argentina has confirmed the purchase of 16 second hand Mirage F-1 decommissioned from the Spanish Air force in an operation valued at 170 million Euros.
The expenditure is contemplated in the 2014 budget bill approved in the Lower House and which awaits debate in the Senate.
The Argentine air force currently has an estimated 25 Mirage 5 and Mirage III with over thirty years in service, some of them fought in the South Atlantic conflict with Britain in 1982 when Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands.
However according to Argentine sources the aircraft are virtually out of use because of lack of spares and an adequate maintenance.
Also: http://tecnologamilitar.blogspot.nl/201 ... on-de.htmlDespite reports that are given as right to purchase 15 Mirage F1 by Argentina, Ejército del Aire used by the Spanish until last June,
the deal could not materialize,
according to ABC revealed the Argentine daily Hoy, last Nov. 22.
The newspaper explains that the fighters for the VI Air Brigade of the Argentine Air Force in a deal estimated at EUR 100 M,
may ultimately not interesting for technical reasons.
Reportedly the aircraft will be very close to completing the planned flight hours before performing heavy maintenance and the Spanish government is not willing to make such periodic inspections,
to extend the life of equipment, so that "the purchase does not take place."
In the same article also refers to senior executives of the Argentine Air Force and the Ministry of Defense,
will be examining the possibility of acquiring Israeli Kfir fighters of origin,
also in use in South America, specifically in Colombia and Ecuador.
The Spanish Ministry of Defence for now no comment on the situation "at the request of the buyer," meaning only that the operation is still in negotiations.
But there is a second reason which today would really behind the main obstacles to closing the deal with Spain: a French move last time.
The Spaniards had the approval of the Gauls to sell fighters to Argentina, including a certificate of use and logistical support.
Now, much to the chagrin of the Iberians,
the French do not provide such certification and would only do so if they buy airplanes to them directly and they are requested technical assistance for the development of the jets.
France is now offering their aircraft and F-1, rivaling the Spanish offer.
Although they have few machines available, including the F-1 Jordanians, in pretty bad shape.
What makes up to 20 days was a business for everyone, for Spain, which placed the surplus material to the French, who were also going to sell some parts and tandem, and Argentina itself, is becoming a field dispute more by pressure than by the Israeli gala deal with Kfir.
Argentine Mirage F1 buy reportedly stalls
02 January 2014
Argentine sources have told IHS Jane's that the planned procurement of 16 Dassault Mirage F1M fighters from the Spanish Air Force has stalled and could possibly be cancelled.
Local media reports indicated that the Argentine Air Force (FAA) has begun analysing other options,
including second-hand Dassault Mirage 2000s from France or Brazil,
but appears to be leaning towards an Israeli offer of 18 IAI Lahav Kfir Block 60 multi-role fighters for USD500 million,
with a possible delivery date some 15 months after a contract signature.
