Rendőrség Budapest-Ferihegy

Post by r.e.hendriks »

Hi all,

As far a I know the Hungarian Police (Rendőrség) has several Mi-2's and MD500's stationed at Budapest-Ferihegy Airport.
Does anyone know where to find these at the airport??

Any help will be more than welcome.

Best regards Rob.

Rob,
They live in the large hangar close to the old terminal.
N47.43743, E19.22546.

Hi Andy,

Thanks!
Just had a look on Google Earth, that will be a hell of a job.
The ramp in front of the hangar isn't really visible from outside the airfield boundaries.

I see they have two runways, is there a certain pattern? Will they use one runway for arrivals and one for departures?

Best regards Rob.

There is a spotting terrace inside the terminal here, so you CAN have a good view on the platform. Don't know about runway use.

This Terminal (T1) is closed and no longer in use, even the terrace over there I think...

Thanks for the answers guys.

I just had contact with a Major of the Police unit, due to the summer season and the airshow at Kecskemét there won't e any Police helicopter at Budapest Airport.
He told me one helicopter is planned for the static at Kecskemét, and probably another one will be flying thourghout the day.

Best regards Rob.

Hello Rob

Thursday 01-08-2013 i visit Rendőrség Air Unit at Budapest-Ferihegy.
Me and a colleague had a great private tour.

In the hangar we saw:
Mi.2. R-13 stored / Parts-cannibal
R-14 operational
H.500 R502 operational
R503 overhaul
R504 stored / Parts-cannibal
R505 wreck

All helicopters were standing inside. R-14 and R502 were on standby.
Greetings

Hi Peter,

Nice log.... I would have loved to see the operational Mi-2. I still need that one.
During Kecskemet Airshow R-501 and R-502 were noted.
