A ferret stowaway hitched a ride on a Hercules aircraft and flew to Cambridge from Holland - but has been reported to immigration control.

The feisty illegal immigrant has been reported to the UK Border Agency after the creature snuck onto the giant military C-103 Hercules on Sunday evening and took the one-hour trip from the town of Eindhoven in the Netherlands to Cambridge Airport.

Now animal charity Wood Green has launched a nationwide appeal to reunite a Dutch ferret with his owner.

The 18-month-old ferret was discovered by staff in an aircraft hangar at Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group in Newmarket Road, on Sunday evening.

De Nederlandse luchtmacht tast nog in het duister over de herkomst van de fret. De bemanning van de Hercules, die vrijdag landde in Cambridge, had in ieder geval geen weet van een verstekeling, aldus een woordvoerster donderdag.

Vincent de Fret heeft dus wel Nederlandse baasjes, maar die blijken tegenwoordig erg dicht in de buurt van Cambridge te wonen.
