The Pentagon has opened a criminal investigation into the U.S. Army Contract and a Contractor, regarding the fact they spent tens of millions of dollars to buy and refurbish Russian helicopters.Part of the investigation is looking into the fact this particular contractor got the job due to inside connections within the U.S. Army Contracting Command.I have not listed any links as there are several stories out there regarding this event since it came out a couple of days ago.Feel free to add them.
As it says the contractor in question may have just been assigned the job without opening the full job up for bids from other companies as required with any Government contracts,to be assigned to the lowest bidder through legal procedures and not under the table deals. That' what they are looking into, whether this company was just handed the job because of the inside connections and not let any other company bid on the project. Some other company may have done the job for several million dollars less, that they could use the money elsewhere. However they are lenghty contracts for the equipment, parts, extra aircraft and maintanence over an extended length of time.So they will look at every aspect of the contract.
