As in the last days LTG 63 trained their „Trall-Ballet“ („Trallet“) on 14.9. for the Flyout on 23.9. with six C-160D plus photoship and so had a 100% availability. They performed a six-ship formation unique in the world in this times.
The guest list of participants for the day is nearly complete and most if not all active Luftwaffe and Marine flying units will at least send one aircraft.
Unfortunately no Heeresflieger units have confirmed their participation!
Other nations planned to arrive are French CN.235 and C-130J.
„Flying onlys“ should comprise the Wittmund QRA and an NATO AEWF E-3A and all Luftwaffe wing Commanding Officers were asked to send all flying aircrafts with training tasks on the day to Hohn for a fly-by.
Unfortunately nearly half of the planned visitors cancelled due to the windy and rainy day, so a fly by by a NATO AEWF E-3A, a HSG 64 H145M, French CN.235, French C-130J and some MFG 3/5 aircrafts/helis.
Flying by or overshooting were:
30+23 and 30+33 Eurofighter GS of TLwG 71 (two overshootings, Wittmund QRA)
30+67 Eurofighter GT of TLwG 71 together with Top Aces Alpha Jet A C-GJTA/057
Also noted were F-AZVM/105 (as 62-SI) N.2501F taxiying only due to the weather and 50+86 C-160D of WTD 61 on the ramp.
Flying a six ship formation after a row takeoff and a nice synchronus taxying perfomance were:
50+36, 50+40 (Retrobrummel), 50+51, 50+79, 50+83 and 50+88. Also noted was 50+55 as ground spare.
A few nice logs of the very dark and wet fly-out on 23 September, thanks for that. However you guys apparently are not interested in civil aircraft; at least if they are not ex military aircraft.
So in addition, the following 7 GFD Lear Jets could be seen this day. All were flying:
D-CGFA/D/F/G/H/J
D-CARL

Does someone know what will happen with the remaining operational C-160D’s, scrapped on base or ? (Heard they will fly till end of december.)
They are for sale, for €50.000, delivery not included.

You are right. No civil aircraft, only Warbird like aircraft.
But as I wrote the GFD down this time I could tell you that D-CGFE departed early in the morning.
With six C-160D Transall (50+36, 50+51, 50+55, 50+79, 50+83 and 50+88) will soldier on at LTG 63 for a few more weeks the wing will celebrate it’s demise on December 15th. A few more flights could happen after this date, but the Luftwaffe will go into Christmas leave shortly after December 20th.
